Practice Manager and Central Services Manager

 

These are unique opportunities to work in a unique organisation.

We are a not-for-profit social enterprise that aims to improve lives by providing innovative GP services. We have three GP practices sites but we work as one organisation. Our head office and some patient administration functions are centralised at our site in Rusholme, Manchester.

Unlike most practices, the management work is shared between different staff. These are our two key senior operational management roles and you would be part of our senior management team, helping to make our service even better. Take a look at the organisation chart in the supporting documents.

If you are a graduate with at least 3 years' management experience and you would enjoy a busy and challenging role with a wide variety of administration and management tasks, then one of these roles could be for you. You don't necessarily need direct experience of primary care and training and support will be provided as required.

The posts have become vacant at approximately the same time by coincidence so we have decided to recruit to them together.

The Practice Manager is responsible (along with the Office Manager at each site) for the front-line admin staff and processes in each practice. They ensure all our practice services are running smoothly, staff are well managed and we are giving a great service to patients and clinicians.

The Central Services Manager is responsible for the centralised staff and services, including HR, H&S, organisation policies, NHS contracts, information governance and regulation by the Care Quality Commission, as well as oversight of IT, finance and the Central Admin Team. We have a contract with specialist HR and H&S advisors to provide expert support. You would also work with our directors and other staff to implement new projects and keep them on track.

Both posts are members of our Executive Committee, working with senior clinical and non-clinical staff, helping to ensure the operational and financial stability of the organisation and developing and implementing our future plans.

We are a friendly, forward-thinking, not-for-profit social enterprise providing primary care services in Manchester. We operate from three sites: The Robert Darbishire Practice in Rusholme Health Centre (which is also head office), The Whitswood Practice in Alexandra Park Health Centre and New Bank Health Centre in Longsight. In total we have about 34,000 patients.

Our patients are very diverse and include established communities as well as new communities from all over the world. We have good links with the University and a sizeable student population.

Our staff team of about 100 people has a great mix of skills and experience. We have exciting plans to expand this team even more, to help us further our mission to improve lives.

The posts are permanent, full-time (37.5 hours) and will be mostly based at Rusholme Health Centre, although you will need to be able to travel to our other sites as needed. The usual working hours are Monday-Friday 0800-1630 or 0830-1700.

Salary will be in the range £50,000 to £58,000, depending on experience. We offer membership of the NHS Pension Scheme and up to six weeks' holiday. (The post is not subject to Agenda for Change terms and conditions.)
