I read on Pulse that the DoH bright spark thinking man has come up with a spanking new idea to turn those happy-time feet-on-the-chair whimsical GP hours into hard-core let’s see another 25 crammed-in patients a day, somewhere between Mrs Persistent’s feet and the second visit to the pie shop.
Should the practice run like lastminute.com?
The idea of sticking those last minute vacancies onto lastminute.com or similar is a sure-fire way to attract the bored and the casual who want to have a chat with the doctor while waiting for the next bus. Unfortunately most spare capacity is created 5 minutes after the patient has failed to turn up.
I like the idea of slot times being “more convenient for patients”. 4.30pm on a sunny Sunday afternoon? No problem. Hang on - I’ll just put this piece of half-grilled chicken into the dog’s bowl.
