Practice Manager Salary Survey 2014

The average advertised UK salary has increased by 0.9% this year according to Adzuna. This is the first increase in wages since the beginning of the recession. Although this is a positive sign, there are also signs of an increasing gap between wage growth in different areas of the country. But has this current trend been replicated for Practice Managers across the UK and how does it vary from region to region?  These are questions that FPM Practice Managers’ Salary Survey aims to answer once again this year.

Since it is the survey’s 10th birthday this year too, it has been revised with some new questions so we can continue to give Practice Managers as comprehensive a guide to salaries and bonuses across the board as possible.

FPM has once again partnered up with Towergate who offer special membership benefits for insurance. Together, we plan to collate and calculate the average Practice Manager’s salaries and year on year percentage change, as well as providing a detailed bonus analysis.

Practice Manager Salary Survey 2013

Last year’s survey showed that the average UK Practice Manager’s basic salary across the nation was £31,982. Those in Scotland made an average of £7,348 less than managers in Greater London in surgeries with less than 5000 on their list, and a whole £15,827 less in practices with between 8,000 and 10,999 on their list. Meanwhile, the Midlands saw the lowest basic salary with those with a list size below 5000 making an average of £28,606, and South West practices with over 14,000 receiving the highest basic salaries at £49,775.

Figures pointed to a general increase in basic salary across the board by 4.14%, however bonuses changed for the worse by an average of -19.76%

As the number one support hub for Practice Managers, we first put the survey together a whole ten years ago in order to help you decide whether you are getting the pay you deserve or not, and to assist with any potential career moves. Since then we have received plenty of responses to the confidential survey, and as with previous years we hope that Practice Managers will continue to contribute in order answer those burning questions relating to pay within the profession.
