First Practice Mangement Anniversary
It’s hard to believe that First Practice Management (FPM) Group is celebrating their 10th anniversary this year. To commemorate the occasion, members of the Group got together and had a celebration with lunch and a delicious cake (courtesy of Emilie Stokoe, Customer Services Representative at SRCL).
But did you know, although First Practice Management turned 10 this year, the concept was formed much earlier, when Ray Wilcox, who had previously worked for the Norfolk Health Authority, set up a consultancy business in the late 1990s to provide Practice Managers with the opportunity to gain knowledge through networking.
In 2003, Ray joined forces with Tim Marlton, an experienced Employment Lawyer, to set up First Practice Management to provide recruitment and staff training services and a discussion forum for Practice Managers throughout the UK.
In 2006, Peter Wolton joined the business part time as their business manager to assist in the flourishing company, later taking a full time position. Sadly, Ray passed away in the same year and his wife, Jill, carried on the legacy with Tim to see over 2000 members subscribe to the services. They appointed Recruitment Consultants all over the country, and subsequently SRCL acquired the business in 2008.
First Practice Management now offers recruitment, management consultancy, training courses, HR and CQC advice, a website building service and the popular FPM forum to over 5,000 members and provides a weekly bulletin of up-to-date information and advice.
“I’m really pleased with how the Company has grown [since SRCL acquired FPM], the website looks really impressive”, Peter Wolton, previous FPM Business Manager commented.
Today, the company has many strings to its bow, with the complementary Dental Practice Management service, Thornfields training services, and My Surgery Website practice websites and intranets.
