NHS England has announced that GP services will be given over a £2.4bn budget boost to help ease growing workloads and to get surgeries “back on their feet”. The funding injection will be pumped into services by 2020 to help pay for 5,000 more GPs and extra staff to improve access for patients.

A new protocol has been produced this week on Firearms Licensing, providing guidelines on how to adhere to a new system that is relevant to practices in England, Scotland and Wales. Effective as of the start of this month, the system has been put in place to improve information sharing between GPs and police.

A 15% year-on-year reduction was introduced in December last year, with a view to payments eventually disappearing altogether by 31 March 2020.
