From 6th April 2022, the UK government's Health & Social Care Levy will take effect across the UK, in the form of a 1.25% increase in National Insurance contributions (NICs).
The changes are expected to raise approximately £12 billion per annum, which will be ringfenced to fund investment in health and social care. The changes will affect employees (including working pensioners), employers, the self-employed, and individuals receiving dividends.
FPM has created a new letter template and guidance for employers on this new levy which can be provided to practice staff to explain the changes (FPM Members can download this from the Policies and Procedures Library)
