Mindful Insights 2021

Its 2021 - Happy New Year! 

Let’s make it our year and start it with a positive affirmation for this bright New Year!

How about we decide together that our thinking/seeing, doing, and speaking will be different. Remembering that it’s the repetition of affirmations that leads to self-belief. You win when the belief becomes a deep conviction and then things begin to happen.

When we look at the traditional ways of starting a NEW YEAR we hear about making resolutions. For the most part, we start with good intentions and motivation but very soon we are left with a negative dialogue that’s going on in our head.

How about we make a contract today and consider writing a new chapter for our lives! Saying yes to being in charge of writing our own story for 2021.

Something that has helped me a great deal is completing a journal. I started this when I was a nurse cadet, my first experiences of work and the world around me - after all, I was venturing out for the first time. This discipline however grew and I believe it’s helped me figure out who I am, what I need, and what I want to accomplish both personally and professionally.

I remembered that with consistency, I began to create the change I wanted and that it came from deep within which in turn changed things around me.

So, what’s your aim this year? 

The feeling of continuing uncertainty and lack of control is as high as ever. We’ve left a year behind that has touched these very points Think/ See, Do, and Speak

All the experts around us have raised concerns about the nation’s mental health as a result of COVID-19. In addition to this, the end of 2020 has been associated with a range of mental health issues, impacting us through, ill health, loneliness, anxiety, stress, and for some sadly dealing with loss.

So what are you deciding to do now that’s going to be different and what could that look like?

Maybe it’s

  • Think/ See differently  

There is a proverb that states “what you think is what you are” 

What you think of yourself is much more important than what others think of you and the Best you is yet to come so make it happen.                        

So ask yourself what are you?

  • Why are you thinking on these lines?
  • What can you do to make a positive change happen?
  • When will you start this?

I’m sending you my positive thoughts and saying “come on you can do it if you make your mind up to do so” Let’s start together. Start the first page of your story and fill it with all the potential that’s in you.

Will Durant would say “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

So what amazing habit will you feed this year?
