PM Salary Survey Results 2019 – Is It Time for Salaries to be Standardised?

First Practice Management is proud to announce the results of the 2019 Practice Manager Salary Survey, which received more than 750 responses from GP managers across the UK. This year we are asking if it is time for Practice Managers’ salaries to be standardised… what do you think?

For many years, our survey has seen Practice Managers comment on the wide range of salaries for PMs, even within the same locality. Of course there are plenty of considerations to weigh up when it comes to salaries, such as list size, location and length of service.

As one respondent pointed out however, these factors aren’t always clear cut: “List size affects salary, but smaller practices mean the PM has to do more of the work!”

The survey ran from 25 September 2019 to 22 November 2019 and focused on income received between 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2019.

Should Practice Managers Salaries be standardised ? Absolutely not. The role of a Practice Manager is so varied I think you would struggle to find two who do exactly the same job so would not support exactly the same pay.
