Learning in the Pandemic : How to deliver a COVID-secure workshop

In a world that has changed over the past 6 months, Thornfields has been busy transforming and added online training workshops to its already tried and trusted face-to-face training.

Since March we have delivered over 100 online workshops on nearly 50 different topics - But we are now also starting to reboot our face to face workshops in a covid secure way, as demand from Primary Care customers is starting to grow.

Our first covid secure training session was delivered in September, by one of our experienced training Associates, Sarah Stapleton.

Sarah delivered a session on “How to Deal with Violent and aggressive patients” for an LMC based in Cornwall, investing a lot of effort to ensure all materials used during the session were suitably sanitised.

Whilst the session was interactive and included activities, at no point were social distancing protocols compromised. Sarah herself also wore a visored mask whilst delivering. Which she hadn’t been looking forward to but on the day she said it just felt like another part of our new normal.

The session was delivered in a room, with hand sanitiser being freely available, that was both well ventilated and also, as you can see below, was a size that meant delegates had more than enough space so they were safe and just as importantly, felt safe.

All delegates wore masks during the session and brought their own refreshments.

On arrival Sarah assessed the room against Thornfield's 'Covid-Secure' venue requirements which had previously been agreed with the client.  It being Sarah’s responsibility to ensure that the venue met those agreed practical standards on the day.

All delegates completed a brief health declaration when they arrived. Which Thornfields will keep on file, for 21 days, in case such details are needed for track and trace purposes during that time.

The session was a great success and Sarah is happy to be back delivering training face to face.

It would also appear that delegates are equally happy to have our face to face training back with one saying in their feedback

“Thought the session was really good and the info and skills learnt will be shared back at the practice. The course was tutored exceptionally well and I have nothing but praise for the way this was done.  One of the most engaging tutors I’ve had – well done”

So if you are ready for face-to-face training, then have a look at the workshops on our website https://thornfields.co.uk/workshops and let’s see if we can help you.
