The
Equality Act 2010
The
Equality Act 2010 fully became law from October 2010 and consolidates and replaces previous legislation such as the Race Relations Act and the Disability Discrimination Act. It prevents discrimination in respect of the following "protected characteristics".
- Age
- Disability
- Gender or gender reassignment
- Race
- Religion or belief
- Sex or sexual orientation
- Marriage and civil partnership
- pregnancy and maternity
- to
make unlawful any form of discrimination or harassment on the grounds
of sexual orientation in the provision of goods, facilities and

create a duty on public authorities to promote equality of opportunity
between men and women and to prohibit sex discrimination in the
