is Connecting for Health?
Connecting
for Health is delivering the National Programme for IT – a multi
billion pound programme which will provide new integrated systems
and services across the NHS in England. The main deliverables of the
programme are:
The NHS
Care Records Service - improving the sharing of patients'
records across the NHS with their consent - more.
The Spine is the name given to the national database
of key information about a patient's health and care, and it forms
the core of the NHS Care Records Service - more.

for patients who wish to opt out of having their
records on the Spine.
Choose
and Book - making it easier and faster for GPs and other
primary care staff to book hospital appointments for patients - more
Electronic Transmission of Prescriptions
(ETP) -
providing the infrastructure for the Electronic Prescription Service
