Hello from the new FPM HR Advisor

Hi, I’m Jennifer and I have joined the First Practice Management (FPM) group as the new HR Advisor. It’s still only my second week here at FPM Group, and I am busy trying to remember the names and roles of people who work here and generally trying to understand what the company does and how my role fits into it. 

So far so good, they’re a friendly and knowledgeable bunch and the company definitely has ambitious plans, which I am looking forward to being a part of.

I’m hoping that I will be able to help you a great deal with your HR & Employment Law related queries and help your practices run more efficiently and ensure your staff issues are dealt with fairly and comply with legal and HR best practice recommendations.

I have worked on a number of large organisational change projects as an HR Consultant, HR Manager, managing a team and I am familiar with the day-to-day HR processes from recruitment to performance and employee relations to sickness.   I’m also a registered member of the CIPD which is the professional body that governs HR professionals. I have studied employment law as part of my law degree and I’m currently doing a Masters in Human Resource Management.

I have been working in HR for nearly 10 years now and worked in a variety of different settings, from large hospital NHS trusts to private treatment centres to the local authority and lots of private enterprises.  I even worked as a dental nurse early on in my career!

This blog will be an opportunity for me to communicate with you on a fortnightly basis about what is topical or interesting in the world of HR and Employment Law, so if there is a topic that you have always wondered about and you’d like me to do a piece on it, let me know by leaving a comment below.  I’ll also look at the types of queries that I receive through the advice line to see if there are any common questions being asked and produce factsheets accordingly.
