CQC Roadshow: Meet the Team

Date: 16th June 2015
Venue: Thackray Medical Museum, Leeds
Address: Beckett Street LS9 7LN
Timings: 9am – 12:30pm

There’s just one week left until First Practice Management (FPM) Group’s first CQC Roadshow of the year in Leeds. A few weeks ago we decided to get to know some of the presenters appearing at the free event, which provides guidance on the new style practice inspections by Care Quality Commission (CQC).

In the past two weeks we have learnt a little bit more about two of our presenters, Charan Sarai and Kate Hodkinson. For our final ‘CQC Roadshow: Meet the Team’ instalment, we spoke to Gerry Devine, Practice Manager Advisor for First Practice Management (FPM) Group.

What is your favourite thing to do with your free time?

Increasingly, I find cooking very therapeutic. I am not that adventurous and I have a limited repertoire, but my signature dish is 'Ritz Chicken' - which, if it emerges as in any way edible, always makes me feel particularly proud.

What is the funniest/most embarrassing thing that has happened to you?

My most recent embarrassing moment was when I had to explain to a really appreciative passerby as I was walking through Liverpool city centre that I was not responsible for all the positive changes that has happened in the city in recent years. He did, however, take some persuading that I was not Joe Anderson, the Mayor of Liverpool.

What has been the most exciting thing to happen to you?

I have a real fear of heights so anything I have done that challenges that fear makes me quite excited. I have been at the top of the Eiffel, tower, Empire State building and The KL tower - I have been a mixture of excited and terrified.

If you could choose anywhere in the world to visit (money is no object) where would it be and why?

I would love to create a snow angel at the Antarctic.

What is your proudest achievement?

I could say becoming a father or completing the London and Barcelona Marathons, but most recently the thing that has made me most proud was building a fully functioning garden gate - a task that involved using power tools and some serious 'shed time.'

What is your favourite drink?

Guinness - because it’s good for you and copious amounts have been known to transform me from someone with no rhythm into a 'truly gifted dancer.'

Hi I wonder if it would be possible to book myself and a colleague onto this course please? I've not seen it advertised before, but would find it extremely useful. Can you please let me know asap? Thank you. Helen Pearson, Practice Manager, Church Lane Surgery, Brighouse.
