Workshop for Practice Managers and GPs
Objectives:
The
objectives of this Workshop are to:

Explain the main aspects of the “Agenda for Change” process
being implemented throughout the NHS.
>
Discuss the implications for General Practice.
>
Examine the pros and cons of different types of pay systems, including
bonus payments.
>
Work through a case-study of a GP practice and apply the job evaluation
process used under the “Agenda for Change” scheme.
>
Discuss staffing structures, job design, personal specifications,
workload, competencies and the job market.
>
Explore the legal implications of changing job content or terms and
conditions.
>
Identify other benefits available to reward and motivate staff.
At the end of the Workshop, delegates will have gained a comprehensive
understanding of the changes being implemented in the NHS and the
repercussions for General Practice.
They
will have participated in a number of exercises to share experiences
and ideas with colleagues. They will have worked through a case-study
and a job evaluation process and will have considered the implications
for the practice.
They
will have examined how to create or change a staffing structure for
the practice, including the legal implications of changing pay and
terms of employment.
They
will have all the information needed to consider the options which
are available for their own practice’s staff pay and benefits.
