The Clinical Audit Support Centre (CASC) provides support in all aspects of quality assurance and clinical governance with particular expertise in undertaking clinical audit work.
CASC are based in Leicester, but provide help and advice to healthcare professionals from all parts of the UK working across all sectors of the NHS.
Our training courses are accredited by nationally recognised educational bodies and delivered by trainers who possess teaching qualifications and qualifications in the subject they teach. Training is delivered in-house, via centrally run workshops and on a distance-learning basis. We are also in a position to develop bespoke training to meet your particular requirements.
Examples of the training that we offer include our Significant Event Audit Masterclass which is based on work we have undertaken with the National Patient Safety Agency. The SEA Masterclass guarantees that practices will meet their QOF requirements in this domain and learners gain a full set of resources and accreditation.
We also offer training in clinical audit which will become a component of recertification for all GPs. Further, audit is likely to be utilised more frequently at a Practice-Based Commissioning level to prove that new systems are having a positive impact and we can assist with the design of clinical audit tools. We support effective audit that aids learning and solves problems, rather than audit that is a data collection exercise that leads to no improvements, as is so often the case!
In addition, we have developed a range of electronic tools that practices can use to validate and maintain accurate chronic disease registers. These tools have been developed by a GP trainer and have been utilised by many practices in the UK.
We are a small innovative team with an excellent reputation. We have recently been asked to develop materials for the RCGP and RCN and our website includes further details of our work, including educational podcasts.
